Rich content on the blog.
One of the strengths of the process blog is the ease with which you can add content from external sources. Check my type 1 class blog for a good example of using external content from you tube videos to lists from other social networking sites like shlfari: http://typography1.blogspot.com/

Another strength is that we can keep commentary centralized on the blog by using the "Comment" function. Your last comment came via email, if you go straight to the post you can comment there (here - :) ) directly and I can respond.
ReplyDeleteyour email comment: "cool - how about intellectual property? do you just assume that whatever is on youtube etc. is glad to get additional exposure? or do you ask them for permission?"
I don't ask for permission, the "embed" function is built into youtube videos that allow embedding. it makes the embedding html code directly available to copy and to use wherever you like. this streams that content from the original source, you don't have a copy of it, just a link to that source.
the ones that don't want re-posting have that function turned off. you will sometimes see re-posted videos that say "this video no longer available", meaning someone has removed the original making it impossible to view on your repost.
