(Michael Epp: I really like this version sliding out from the outsides. It opens in an interesting way but is a relatively simple solution, adding to the enigmatic, discovery qualities Michael is after with the album, as if they are intercepted, ancient, alien transmissions.)

I also thought a modern slip format like this might lend well to the albums photographic content, but it would conceal most of the cd's designs. That might be interesting in itself though, since you'll discover those designs when you pull out the discs.
I also ran across this album, which utilizes layers of the card stock material. So maybe something like that too.
And of course a folding option like this might be interesting as well. We'd have to modify it to fit a 2 disc set though. I think that it would add a more personal experience to the opening of the album.
I've also been doing some iterations on headphone types for the logo. But while they may look more like headphones, the details might be lost in the size of the logo, and the process of making it work in just black or just white. There's also something to the headphones already designed that I like. They already give off the impression of headphones and are super minimal, so I think any details like these might just be adding unnecessary fluff.
And finally, these 2 are just some ideas for using the logo as the cd's design.

good input, thanks! i'd like to add a basic 4 panel, 2 disk digipak, e.g. http://discmakers.com/products/doubledigipak.asp
